Afghan Rug Cleaning

Cleaning Afghan rugs isn't an especially complicated task, but anyone lacking experience in the field can end up doing more harm than good to the rug — even if they're technically a professional.

Afghan rugs are very popular in Israel today because of their distinctive look.

These are rugs that can last decades in our homes, as long as they're maintained correctly.

These rugs are very sensitive to the wrong cleaning solutions, and certainly to "aggressive" cleaning.

So how do you maintain Afghan rugs on an ongoing basis?

If you want to maintain your rugs properly, all you need to do is dry-vacuum them at least once or twice a week, without using any chemicals or cleaning solutions.

It's strongly recommended to use a beater-bar vacuum, but make sure not to run it on the strongest setting.

What kind of damage can improper cleaning cause to these rugs?

Cleaning Afghan rugs with the wrong solutions or at too high a temperature can cause color bleeding, fading, and the appearance of yellow or dark discoloration in the rug.

Cleaning that's too aggressive can also cause tears in the rug, since in most cases these are especially thin rugs.

How is professional Afghan rug cleaning done?

Professional cleaning can be done either at the customer's home or at our rug cleaning facility.

Afghan rug cleaning at the customer's home is done using a machine that cleans by injecting cleaning solution and water under air pressure into the rug fibers, followed by powerful extraction to remove as many contaminants as possible, as well as to extract the water we injected into the rug during the cleaning process.

Cleaning at our facility is identical to cleaning at home, except that at the facility we use a special machine — the dirty rug goes in one side and comes out clean on the other, after going through shaking, scrubbing, foaming, washing, and, of course, wringing.

Facility cleaning is also suitable for thick rugs that can be soaked in a special soaking unit.

Beyond rug cleaning, we at Zeus Clean also offer an innovative stain-repellent coating service for rugs.

This is a completely transparent, undetectable solution whose special property is that it forms a barrier between the rug fibers and environmental damage, while also preventing the rug from absorbing liquids.

If your guests spill a cup of coffee on the rug, all you'll need to do is blot the liquid with paper towels, and the rug will stay dry and stain-free.

Will professional Afghan rug cleaning also solve unpleasant odor problems?

The answer is absolutely yes! Even pet urine odors will disappear after professional cleaning combined with odor-neutralizing treatment.

To get a price quote, all you need to do is send us a photo and the measurements of the rugs.
