Passover Sofa & Rug Cleaning — Read This Before You Book

Like every year at the start of spring, Jewish families across Israel and around the world get ready to celebrate freedom together.
Before the holiday, the women of the house — and thankfully these days the men too — work day and night to get the home ready for the holiday.
Cleaning, shopping, and sometimes even small renovations.
The toughest cleaning job ahead of the holiday is sofa cleaning or rug cleaning in honor of Passover.
This cleaning is done specifically for the holiday because homeowners want to host their guests in a clean, tidy home.
Sofa cleaning for Passover or rug cleaning for Passover is especially important for anyone who keeps kosher dietary laws.
After all, no one wants to spend two weeks cleaning the house of chametz only to be left with crumbs trapped in the sofas or rugs.
Sofa cleaning for Passover — how do we do it?
First, we perform a thorough vacuuming, then we spray the sofas with a professional upholstery cleaning solution designed to dissolve dirt.
After waiting about five minutes, we begin the deep cleaning work using the injection-and-extraction method.
Of course, at the end of the job we always perform one more thorough vacuum of every crevice where crumbs might be hiding.
The final step is applying a disinfecting agent that also neutralizes unpleasant odors.
Leather sofa cleaning for Passover — how is it done properly?
All the steps are identical to fabric sofa cleaning, except that with leather upholstery we clean without machines, since our equipment is very powerful and could damage the leather.
So what do we do instead?
A thorough cleaning using a gentle horsehair brush, soft microfiber cloths, and a professional leather sofa cleaning solution.
* At the start of the job, it's important to test the leather's tolerance for the cleaning process in a hidden corner first.
After cleaning the sofa, we apply a leather conditioner that nourishes it, gives it a shine, and prevents it from cracking and drying out.
(We recommend applying leather conditioner once a month — you can buy it at any nearby store.)
Rug cleaning for Passover — how do we do it?
First, we vacuum the rug to remove dust and crumbs, then we perform a thorough cleaning using an injection-and-extraction machine, similar to sofa cleaning.
The difference is in the materials — there are solutions for cleaning sofas and separate solutions for cleaning rugs.
The machine essentially injects hot water with a professional rug cleaning solution, while extracting all the water — along with all the dirt — back out of the rug from the other side.
At the end of the cleaning, we perform one more thorough extraction and apply an odor-neutralizing agent.
Handmade rugs, and rugs made of silk, wool, and similar materials, should not be cleaned with hot water, to prevent the colors from bleeding.
Some rugs, like shaggy rugs with long fibers, need to have their Passover rug cleaning done at our facility rather than at the customer's home.
At our facility, they go through shaking out and soak cleaning.
